The Denizen Internship
A Residential Discipleship Internship for Men
What Is the Denizen Internship?
The Denizen Internship is a 30-day residential discipleship internship within The Den, designed to help men bring their lives into spiritual, personal, and communal alignment with Christ and the mission of the Gospel.
Denizens live within the daily rhythm of The Den, serving the household and submitting to pastoral oversight. Through shared life, responsibility, and discipline, men learn how to live aligned lives; lives that can be trusted and sustained beyond this house.
This internship is a focused season of intentional alignment, centered on cultivating a servant’s heart rooted in Scripture.
Meaning of “Denizen”
A denizen is a person who dwells in or regularly inhabits a particular place; a resident or habitual presence with a sense of belonging.
In the context of The Den, a Denizen is one who:
- Lives within the household for a season
- Shares in its daily life, responsibilities, and rhythms
- Engages in community with intentional presence
Spiritually and practically, a Denizen is a disciple in residence; a man who intentionally places himself within the life of the house to grow in alignment with Christ and serve with consistency.
His time in The Den is not solely about dwelling but about belonging through participation, responsibility, and faithful obedience; learning to live in alignment within a community so he can live in alignment wherever he is.
Purpose of the Internship
The Denizen Internship exists to:
- Help men align their lives with Christ-centered living
- Cultivate habits of discipline, integrity, and responsibility
- Strengthen spiritual maturity through daily practice
- Support the mission and life of The Den
- Model the servant heart of Christ in practical, daily service
- Clarify direction for faithful living beyond the house
This season centers on learning to serve well before seeking to lead.
Alignment Focus
Denizens are shaped through alignment in key areas:
- Spiritual alignment — prayer, Scripture, obedience, attentiveness
- Personal alignment — discipline, stewardship, self-governance
- Relational alignment — brotherhood, respect, accountability
- Missional alignment — understanding life as faithful presence in everyday contexts
Alignment is revealed through faithfulness over time.

Financial Structure
- The Denizen Internship includes a stipend for the 30-day residency.
- Room and board are fully covered by the ministry, including housing and daily meals. This removes the primary financial burden for Denizens during the internship and allows them to be fully present in the life of the house.
- Personal expenses beyond basic provision remain the responsibility of the Denizen.
- Outside work or commitments are discouraged during the 30-day term in order to preserve rhythm and attentiveness.
- Denizens receive intentional guidance and real-world discipleship throughout the internship; an investment in the whole person that extends beyond the season and equips them to return to their communities grounded, prepared, and mission-minded.
This structure is designed to reduce financial strain while keeping the focus on service and spiritual alignment.
Being Sent
The Denizen Internship concludes with men returning to their communities equipped to live faithfully where they are.
This may take many forms; work, family leadership, church involvement, ministry support, or faithful presence in everyday life.
What matters is alignment with Christ expressed through service.
Closing Perspective:
The Denizen Internship is an invitation into alignment with Christ, order in life, and clarity of purpose.
It is a place where men learn how to live faithfully so that, when sent, they remain steady, accountable, and rooted in the Gospel; wherever they are called to go.
